Vehicles in German City Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Police mentioned they were alerted by a resident who discovered a car in Hanau marked with red-colored liquid

Around 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to police.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.

Law enforcement say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.

The substance had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.

Police then found multiple other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Police report initial examinations suggest the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no lead as to its origin; authorities are currently not informed of any physical harm in association with the incident," they stated.

Local authorities announced they were attempting "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the community for tips.

A senior representative stated the vandalism made him speechless and needed to be resolved promptly.

"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, referring to the death of nine people by a gunman targeting individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
